Our Founders
Amba Vaidya Sala, the parent institution, which was founded in 1945, is situated in the heart of Changanassery town, in the beautiful state of Kerala, India. The present Amba Ayurveda Hospital, which was inaugurated on April 3, 2005 by the honorable Chief Minster of Kerala marks another milestone in our onward march to success, following the footprints of our illustrious predecessors. Mr. S. Kunjan Pillai Vaidyan, who inspired the beginning of Amba Ayurveda Vaidyasala.
Mr. S. Kunjan Pillai Vaidyan was born in 1880 in the illustrious and aristocratic Arackel family of Changanassery. He was deeply interested in the health sciences and techniques of the Ayurveda system of medicine. He mastered the art of Ayurveda treatment by relentless hard work, devoted study and practice. The main focus of his treatment was accurate diagnosis and treatment using quality Ayurvedic medicines, which he himself created. Through his successful practice he earned great reputation and esteem. He passed on his skills and expertise to his son Mr. P.R. Bhaskaran Nair, who earned the title of "Vaidyakalanidhi" (Treasure in the Art of Medicine) from the Government Ayurveda College, Trivandrum in 1944. With the blessings of his revered father he started Amba Ayurveda Vaidyasala and Pharmacy in 1945.
Mr. Bhaskaran Nair had the active guidance and assistance if his father till the latter's demise in 1952.
Dr. A.B. Sasidharan Nair
Chief Physician & Managing PartnerDr. A.B. Sasidharan Nair Chief Physician and Managing Partner of the Amba institutions at present, holds the Degree of B.A.M. from the Government Ayurveda College, Trivandrum. Having secured the degree in 1982, he joined the family institution of Amba Vaidyasala being run by his father. After the latter’s death Dr.Sasidharan Nair took up the reins of the institution and led it to new heights. He established Amba Ayurveda Hospital in the year 2005. The sixtytwo years that have elapsed since 1945 have ensured notable changes in the treatment and techniques of the Ayurvedic system. Here at Amba the noble traditions of treatment followed by the founders are kept alive and enriched by the successors with the blessings of god Dhanvanthary Moorthy.
