About Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the art of healthy living that enables you to create harmony in everyday life by applying self- knowledge and self-care. The word, Ayurveda, has its roots in the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit, and literally means "knowledge of life". Inherent in Ayurvedic principles is the concept that you are capable of taking charge of your own life and healing. Ayurveda may come from ancient texts, but these principles are just as applicable today in every society, as they were when they were originally recorded in India. Ayurvedic living occurs when you recognize your basic nature and live according to this true self.

"Ayurveda is the ancient Indian system of preventive and curative health care. According to this system, bodily health is determined by three biological principles, called ‘doshas’: ‘Vata’ (air), which regulates movement; ‘Pitta’ (fire), which regulates metabolism; and ‘Kapha’ (water), which regulates structure. "Ayur" means life and "Ved" means knowledge (knowledge of life). This holistic science, practiced for more than 5000 years is the knowledge of complete Balance of the Body, Mind and Spirit, including the emotions on all levels. It includes in its consideration, longevity, rejuvenation and self-realization therapies through herbs, diet, exercise, yoga, massage, aromas, ‘tantras’, ‘mantras’ and meditation. It forms an approach to physical health, mental clarity and spiritual fulfillment, that goes back to the ‘rishis’ or sages of ancient India, which was then codified in the Vedas, the sacred texts of Hinduism.
